i figured it was time to take it off scott's page, since this is our conversation now.. i get what you're saying & i started off my response as the rant that's been in my head for the last month. i know why it could be detrimental if someone were to actually prove that Christ did not exist or if he were 'just a man', as it were. however, christians are the only ones who see Jesus as more than a prophet, more than a man. i think that's why we get so much flack. because we are the minority. just like most minorities... i actually know a girl who was in a horrible accident this weekend - the truck flipped, but she and her friend (the driver) sustained only a few minor lacerations. before they could think about getting out, some rednecks pulled up, pulled the driver out & basically smashed his face in, then stole both of their cell phones so they couldn't call the cops. just before the rednecks could attack/rape her, some people drove up & scared the perps off. i said something to her about, "someone was looking out for you, girl" and she went off about how her friend was hurt and she wised that God or Jeebus or whoever had prevented that truck from turning over. i guess that's the thing w/ppl like that - they can't see the forest for the trees or however the expression goes. :) all christians can do is pray for the softening of hearts..
